Client:
Coleman Middle School; Unified School District 259

Project:
Unified School District 259 commissioned Hanney & Associates to add an addition to the existing Coleman Middle School, located just west of Rock Road off 13th. The project included combining (2) dinning rooms into one for better supervision; the creation of a new entrance with commons and an administration area; (6) new science classrooms and (2) general classrooms. The solution responded to the (4) dome pods of the original design by creating a “swoop” expression, which formed the new entry and commons. A glass curtain wall was used to bring outside daylight into the common space to counteract the windowless classrooms of the original design. The end of the addition has a roof form that reflects the radius of the original dome to highlight the end of the addition.

Project Size:
10,000 Sq. Ft.
